I'm about 10 years out from my graduation as a nurse and personally, Lakeview Lodge is the best company I've worked for. The reasons that contribute to this are: The work/life balance, support, and the culture that Lakeview employs. I am also very pleased with my direct management, (Gloria, Karen and Brenda). All are very accommodating to emergencies, and I feel that they truly care about me as a person, not just an employee. I've worked for several companies throughout my career and have worked with amazing teams, but the staff at Lakeview are definitely the most friendliest, caring and committed group I've ever worked with. I also feel that Lakeview Lodge management would help me get to where I want to go professionally if I wanted to change gears to a new role. If there were an opportunity, I feel that they would encourage and help me get to that. This is particularly rare, as this is the exact reason I left my previous employer. I have left Lakeview Lodge to persue a new direction in my career, and honestly, because of the atmosphere at Lakeview Lodge, it was a very difficult decision to make. The bottom line: Is it perfect? Of course not, its a busy place! But I enjoy coming to work everyday for both the work I get to do, the residents I get to care for, and the people I get to see, and, I know I have a supportive team around me.
I would never sent my loved one here. I see too much bad practice and lots of care aids who are so cold,rough to the residents. Barely any person centred care. I lasted as an employee here for a couple weeks. And I simply quit because too many staff aren't nice. As a new employee there is barely any support. Other care aids don't want to answer questions or help if needed. Besides the couple great care aids there is plenty that should be looking for another job. They have no compassion, order residents around. It was sure an eye opener! I will never return to work here nor would I ever recommend this place! They are also very unorganized.
My dear friend passed away today. Alzheimer is the most horrible illnes. My friend was in Alzheimer stage since 2012 and in Lakeview lodge West Kelowna since 2014 . These days we hear horrible reports how the care homes handeling their residents. I need to say for 6 years I was able to see the care provided in this facility and say Thank you for the loving care my friend received. Most of the Care aids and Nurses are very loving people. Thank you nurse Pam, Linzie and all the care aids who were there for my friend to the end.  Rest in Peace my friend Olive.
